Leeds has one of the most amazing city centres in the north, with wide sweeping palazzo style terraces which would not look out of place in Florence or Rome. The weather sadly doesn’t always live up to this rather bold styling, but there is plenty to do inside, with some great museums, including the relocated Royal Armouries Museum, the Leeds City Museum in Millennium Square and possibly the best medical museum outside London, the Thackray Museum in St James Hospital.

Leeds is one of the real hubs of the whole area of West Yorkshire and has in fact been very important in the area since the 5th century.
